Report 1 November 2019
Rapex Report, November 2019 – November’s Rapex alerts are off to a strong start. And not just because 68 products have been recalled this week. In addition, the following have been recalled 10 cosmetics: 4 tubes of toothpaste containing aminocaproic acid (an ingredient that affects blood clotting), 3 shower gels due to contamination with aerobic mesophilic bacteria, 1 henna hair dye containing p-Phenylenediamine (PPD), and two skin-lightening lotions containing the ingredient hydroquinone.
And finally, we would also like to announce the recall of three tattoo inks, manufactured in the US by Eternal Ink and Intenze, two brands that are constantly the subject of alerts due to their failure to comply with European regulations because they use carcinogenic ingredients in their inks. .
Rapex Report 8 November 2019
In the second week of November, 31 notifications were received, none of which were at the request of the Spanish authorities. In the chemicals category, one has been withdrawn tattoo ink, manufactured by Intenze in the US, which contained aromatic amines not permitted by the ResAP (2008) 1 on safety criteria for tattoos and permanent make-up.
Rapex Report 15 November 2019
Rapex Report, November 2019 – On Friday 15 November, we received a report from the Rapex system that was virtually identical to the one from the previous week. Thirty-one products were recalled, none of which were from the cosmetics sector. A tattoo ink manufactured by Intenze was also reported for failing to comply with the ResAP (2008)1.
Report 22 November 2019
In the fourth report for November, the Rapex system reported 38 items posing a risk to EU consumers. However, none of these were in the cosmetics category, nor were there any reports concerning tattoo inks or other personal care products. It was a very quiet week for the sector.
Report 29 November 2019
In the last week of November, there was an extremely high number of products withdrawn: as many as 93 products were banned from the EU market (although the Spanish authorities have still not issued any notifications).
In the cosmetics sector, a set of false nails and two hair dyes were withdrawn from the market for containing ingredients not permitted in cosmetic products. Furthermore, in the Clothing, Textiles and Fashion Items category, a set of false nails was banned for failing to comply with the Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, which is why we believe it should be classified as a cosmetic product and recorded as such in our report.
