Rapex Report 18-3-2016: The Netherlands recalls 4 tooth whitening products

Last Friday, 18 March, the EU’s Rapex alert removed 32 products from the European market. In Spain, no products were recalled on this occasion, which is unusual and which we would like to interpret as good news.

As regards the cosmetics sector, all the bans took place in the Netherlands and concerned the same type of product: teeth-whitening strips. In the case of the first three, they were manufactured in the US by Crest and withdrawn for failing to comply with the Regulation, as their composition was found to contain hydrogen peroxide, an ingredient that causes skin irritation and is harmful if swallowed. The fourth product, manufactured in China by the company Beautiful Smile, was withdrawn for the same reason.
