Informe Rapex Junio 2019

Report 7 June 2019

Rapex Report, June 2019 –

In the first week of June, just 21 products were withdrawn from the market in the eurozone. Of these, there was only one cosmetic product and one tattoo ink. In this case, the product is a make-up product for fancy dress, designed to simulate blood, which fails to comply with Regulation 1223/2009 due to microbiological contamination.

Report dated 14 June 2019

Although only three alerts have been published in the cosmetics sector, as many as ten cosmetic products were actually withdrawn on Friday the 14th. Two sets of body glitter, due to containing antimony, and eight eye mask products manufactured by the British company PaintGlows – listed in a single alert, but each with its own barcode and product name – due to containing colourants not authorised for use in cosmetics.

Report dated 28 June 2019

In the latest Rapex alert of the month, issued on Friday 28 May, not a single cosmetic product was withdrawn from the EU market. The only notable alert concerned a tattoo ink, which contained aromatic amines – substances known to cause cancer.

We are still waiting to hear from the Spanish authorities, who have not reported any products in any category for months.
